Allow Switching to Handsfree Mode Mid-Recording

Feature Request

Currently, in Vowen, handsfree mode can only be activated at the start of a recording. If I begin with the transcription hotkey, I cannot switch to handsfree without stopping and starting a new recording. Coming from Wisperflow, pressing the Fn key and then the bar button allowed seamless transition to handsfree mid-session. Adding similar functionality in Vowen would improve workflow and flexibility.

    Hey @Xavier we already support this I believe. For example you can set the regular transcription to “Fn” and hands free mode to “Fn + Space “ or I’ve set it to “Fn + Control” and pressing “Fn + control” at any time while regular transcription is happening will switch it to handsfree mode. You can set the hands free mode’s hotkey in a such a way that it allows for seamless toggling between transcribe and handsfree mode.

      Nice! I would say then the two feedbacks would be

      • first to just have to touch the second short key rather than having to re-click both of them (so while using fn, only have to press space for me, control for you). but not a massive deal.
        And secondly, I still would like to stop the message using FN rather than using the full shortcut for my hands free. I think it's more natural.

      No biggie, and thanks again for such a great app

        Ah I see, that’s an improvement, we’ll work that in.

        Also I just noticed that hotkeys with “space” is not configured to detect in the app, we’ll be fixing that as well. Thanks

          Just to let you, know, adding space don’t retrigger the

          Handsfree Mode, I still need to press the full short cut mid recording. Thanks

            Hey @Xavier , We just checked.

            Following are the shortcuts configured to check the same
            Transcription Shortcut: Fn Key
            Hands-Free mode: Fn Key + Space

            Holding Fn key starts recording my audio and clicking space midway once triggered the handsfree mode. You don’t have to re-click both of them again. And to end the transcription, you would have to press Fn Key + space again.

              Does not work for me :D
              I think clicking Fn to stop all transcript (handfree or not) is more user friendly.

                @Xavier I think I can see the issue now. Thank you for sharing for recording. The alternatives shortcuts for hands-free mode are not getting picked up. We’ll fix this in the coming update.

                @Xavier For the time being, I can suggest setting the primary shortcut for hands free as “Fn + Space” and delete the equivalent “Fn + Space” alternative for it, and it should work for the time being. But we’ll get this fixed so that it works for alternatives as well.
