Need shortcut to use AI Mode

Feature Request

It would be pretty useful to have a shortcut where I can press two keys let's say control and function key together to use the AI enhancement and just the function key to use it without AI enhancement so that I can save on tokens when the text I am dictating is not that important

    Is it working for you? I’ve tried Groq and Gemini, and there is no formatting or changes, despite my instructions…

    When recording, i don’t see if AI is on or not:

    Last one: Transcription Hotkey default shortcut: is it using AI or not?

      Hey @Xavier , for the transcriptions for which AI should have been used to enhance, can you check if you see the “AI enhanced” tag in the “Voice log” section of the app? What I’m suspecting is that either Groq / Gemini has some upstream rate limiting issue. If you do not see the “AI enhanced” tag this is likely the issue.

      Also if you have “Enhance transcription with AI” turned off globally in “Configure your AI” section, it should not be used. If it’s turned on the default shortcut should use AI enhancement. For alternate shortcuts you’ve added the setting you have selected overrides the global setting. For example, if you have it disabled globally for “Fn + LShift” and have enabled it in the shortcuts, it should use AI enhancement.

      It’s a bit confusing at the moment, we are working to make this more clear by improving the UX of the app.

      But do let me know if you are seeing “AI enhanced” tag or not in the voice log section. You can also try changing the model of Gemini / Groq to confirm that could be the issue, because if we hit any rate limit issues, we skip the AI enhancement and paste the raw text as is. I’m guessing that could be the issue here.

        Thanks a lot, very helpful. the issue is that this shortcut is not working. When trying with another shortcut, np.


        The ⬆️ button is the one right next to fn on numerical keyboard.

          @Xavier I think I know why this is happening. In a screenshot you’d shared earlier, I saw that for “Fn” you’d “Enhance with AI” turned off, and for “Fn + Shift” you have enhance with AI turned on. Since it’s overlapping shortcuts it’s causing this issue. We’ll work on detecting the intent from which hotkey was released and handle it better. It should be fixed in the coming update this week. Thanks

            @Xavier We’ve fixed this issue in v0.2.6. You should also see a ✨ icon when a shortcut is using AI enhancement as well. Thanks

    Hey @Yash Gawde , we’ve released an update v0.2.3 which allows you to configure this. Sharing an example configuration where the default shortcut uses “AI enhancement” and the alternative shortcut can be configured to not use AI enhancement.
