No Visual Distinction Between Command Mode and Dictation Mode

I find it a real shame that there is no clear visual indicator to distinguish whether I am currently in Command Mode or Dictation Mode. 

I often intend to start Command Mode, but end up in Dictation Mode despite pressing what I believe are the correct keys. Since the icon looks the same in both modes, I only realize the mistake after two minutes of dictating instead of executing commands. A distinct visual indicator (e.g., a different icon color or a small label) would make a huge difference.
