Please submit your application to Apple for Notarization

Feature Request

I'm dying to use your application, but granting access to control my computer and microphone without being able to inspect/run source code and/or having Apple Notarize the App is just not tractable. If you're not going to share the source code, then please submit the code to Apple so that I can confidently install the application without worrying that it's full of malware.

    @Colin Fish We figured out what the issue was, the app was code signed and notarized but because of stale paths Gatekeeper was flagging it as malicious. Rest assured, the stale paths have been removed and we’re not seeing the error now. You can download the latest version from here (v0.1.19): https://assets.vowen.ai/Vowen-0.1.19-arm64.dmg

    @Colin Fish I can see that the DMG doesn’t seem to be code signed but the app within it is code signed. We’re fixing this right now, we’ll get back to you with an update immediately.

    @Colin Fish I tried installing it on a fresh macOS system and this is what I’m seeing:

    Here it says that “Apple checked it for malicious software and none was detected”

    It’s definitely an issue with Gatekeeper configuration, the app must have been quarantined because of some system configuration.

    @Colin Fish Can you run these commands from your terminal, you should see that it’s codesigned and notarized:

    // 1. Verify code signature
codesign --verify --deep --strict --verbose=2 "/Applications/Vowen.app"

// 2. Display signing details
codesign -dv --verbose=4 "/Applications/Vowen.app"

// 3. Gatekeeper assessment
spctl --assess --type execute --verbose=2 "/Applications/Vowen.app"

// 4. Verify notarization ticket is stapled
stapler validate "/Applications/Vowen.app"

    @Colin Fish The app is already code signed and notarized, and we are already part of the Apple Developer Program. This must be an issue with Gatekeeper on your system which is not correctly picking up the stapled tickets. We’ve over hundreds of users on macOS right now and this is the first time we are hearing about it. We have a process in place to notarize and distribute. I’m not sure what could be causing this issue. Please join our Discord server where we can help you identify what is causing Gatekeeper to fail on your system.
